The Rainbow Bridge

Just got a note from a friend that she lost her dog, Kona.  Whenever a friend loses a pet it takes me right back to how I felt the day we lost our Toosox.  Then I look at my two beasts and know our time is short and I need to appreciate them for every second I have them.  Dogs are a gift – the unconditional love and affection they show us is unequaled.  There’s an old saying that only a dog would lick the hand of his murderer, and it’s true.  Dogs know love and acceptance. When we lose one who has blessed our lives, it hurts.  It doesn’t seem fair that they can’t spend as much time on this earth as we would like them to.

Mary, I am so sorry for your loss of Kona.  I know the grief you are feeling right now feels like it will never end.  It will and hopefully another sweet furry face will come into your life.  My heart goes out to you.

  1. Thank you, Kim. I came back to say it was the Steve Miller Band, not Boston. Thank you for the kind affirmation. Our grief is pretty raw right now as it was just yesterday he passed – it was so sad. Time will help heal our deep sorrow and sadness. Friends’ kind reassuring words really help, too. Thank you again. Mary

  2. Me again….we’ll be lighting a candle in Kona’s memory tomorrow night (12/12/11) at 7 p.m. Pacific time. I think that’s 8 p.m. your time if you’d like to join us. Thanks for the Rainbow Bridge link.
